holiday parties past second grade...

By the 3rd or 4th grade, do kids have as many in-class parties as they do in the earlier grades?

Halloween or pre-winter break celebrations I can understand, but does Thanksgiving warrant in-class party?

Where are your kids in school? My kids' mcps school has never had any holiday celebrations other than halloween and valentine's day. personally I think that thanksgiving could be much more interesting in older grades since they have learned about native americans and some us history.

No and no Christmas parties either. So annoying how we have to be so PC.

Ikr, we are having a "winter holiday party" at my ds' school, but he will be out that day since we are traveling for Christmas -excuse me, winter holidays, this year.

FCPS allows for 2 parties a year. Smaller celebrations don't count. If a teacher did a fall party, then winter is typically skipped. Don't know how DC or MD do it.

My child's school had a "Fall Festival" party instead of a Halloween party, but it was on Halloween. I just roll my eyes at it.

In our FCPS, we have small in-class celebrations at Halloween and Valentine's Day. Those are held for 1 hour, and don't count as parties. Then we have 2 parties - one at Christmas time that is called the Holiday party and a year-end party. This has been for K, 1st, 2nd and 3rd. My kids haven't made it any farther than that so far.
