fresh peaches

I have a friend who wants to make a fresh peach pie this weekend. (She was dared to, she knows they are out of season). Has anyone seen them in stores? She knows she will spend an arm and a leg. TIA!

Tell your friend to forget it. Any peaches she finds in the store this time of year will taste like cardboard. The best she can do is get some frozen peaches and doctor them up.

This. You can't fight mother nature. But hang onto that recipe and come next August hit any farmers' market in the area.

Go get canned peaches from the farmer's market. Cooked peach pie? Nobody will be able to tell the difference.
