Ecart testing

Has the Ecart testing changed this year in terms of difficulty. I was worried to see my 6th grade daughter scoring less in Reading assessment.

What was the test? Ecart is the platform/program on which different tests are input.

Reall ? That is interesting.

Quarter 1 eCART district tests are optional. They have changed to some degree in that they have added some additional question types, such as multiple select rather than multiple choice. The district pass rate for these tests is always way, way lower than the pass rates for SOL's. If you can see the test itself, you'll see why. They are extraordinarily poorly written. Hopefully more schools will opt out of taking the Q1 and Q3 tests. The Q2 is required of all.

Not the case IME. Rigorous, yes, but carefully crafted. I know this is not the case for all, though.

FWIW, I teach 7th grade. One of our feeder schools asked about using one of our assessments as a 6th grade preassessment. Much of the language used is not in the 5th or 6th grade pacing guide, including extensions, so it would be no surprise that kids would do poorly. Just one example for thought.
