Balducci's Thanksgiving?

Anonymous
We'll be here for Thanksgiving for the first time, and I'm thinking about getting dinner from Balducci's, including the fully-cooked turkey. Our oven is unpredictable and I have three kids, including an infant, so I don't want any surprises on Thanksgiving. Has anyone done this? How was it? I'm wary of getting the fully-cooked bird, but I also know that our oven isn't up to cooking a large turkey. I know I'm not going to be up to cooking everything this year either.

Our other option is Whole Foods, but I did that one year and didn't think it was very good.

We're in Falls Church City, if there are other nearby options you'd suggest. I'm considering getting pies from Buzz Bakery, too, if anyone has an opinion on those.

Thanks!

We did Balducci's one year, and it was fantastic! Absolutely delicious! The turkey was seasoned so well that we made turkey soup out of the leftovers. The following year that we ordered from them, it was not as good. The turkey was bland and the sides just did not have great flavor. We stopped ordering from them, and now order from Ritz Carlton. The food is plentiful and amazing!

If you can afford all this fancy take out food you can afford a new oven.

We have done Balducci sides for the past few years -- always fine. Better than Whole Foods. We buy the stuffing and mash potatoes and cook a sweet potato dish, roasted brussels sprouts and the turkey.

LOL. This is Op. Thanks for the advice, minus the person who suggested a new oven. I get along fine for most of the year.... I like the Ritz idea, too. Thanksgiving is one of our favorite holidays, but I don't have the energy (or oven) to do it this year.

Definitely Balduccis over whole foods. I've never gotten the cooked turkey but the sides are great.

Get in line early for pickup.

I always get the turkey breast. We don't have a big crowd though. It reheats wonderfully.

I saw today that you can get Thanksgiving to go at Popeye's. The turkey is Cajun-spiced, 9 to 13 lbs.
