I new to using craigslist. Why are their so many duplicate ads for the same thing/service from the same person? Am I missing something?

| I'm not sure, but it is certainly annoying. I have seen the same weird rugs and coffee tables on there for about 9 months now, no lie. And yet the one time my DH tried to repost something we hadn't yet sold he got an error message saying he wasn't allowed to make a duplicate post! |
| Posts move down so quickly on craigslist, they can get lost within days or hours. So people repost ads in order to be closer to the top, to have a chance to be seen. |
I'd try again if one of your items doesn't sell--it seems that they've made it easier to repost than it was previously. You can also "renew" a posting that is still active but a bit older, so that it moves up on the list. I agree that 9 months is pretty ridiculous for reposting the same items--maybe it's time for them to drop the price? But I find that I can post something a couple of times with no response, then suddenly someone wants to buy it. At least I do drop the price over time if there are no takers. |

Because people stupidly (!!) assume if they post their ads over + over, then they will get more responses.
What they don't understand is that actually they are undermining themselves big time. I use CL to find childcare on occasion. I get turned off by the nannies or daycares that post over and over. To me, that sends the message that they are just desperate for business, they must not be that good if they are so desperate and that they have way too much time on their hands if they can post so much online in a day. |
| You nc report those ads by clicking report for over posting and they will be removed. |
That's how the bad childcare providers work Stay away from the people with multiple ads and find the ones that have 1-3 ads up and renew them according to the regulations instead of just spamming Craigslist. That's how you find the good providers. It's actually really simple and makes you trying to find a good provider a lot easier!

| Don't be so quick to assume that everyone is doing this on purpose. I just made a post this morning. I noticed a few things wrong and wound up editing it twice. When I went to view my post it was on there 3 times. I assume it was because of the edit. My account shows only one posting but it shows up 3 times and I don't know how to fix it. Definitely was not on purpose. |
I don't see anything that says "Report." Where is it? Or is there another place to click? Thanks. |
| In Orange County the problem is with Jigsaw Puzzles. These people don't even want to sell them. It is like a game between 4-5 people. Many ads have been going over 2 years. |
| did not answer my question at all. why are there so many duplicates when the item data box on the left says "Hide duplicates" |
| People still use Craigslist? |
| Click the flag at the top of the repeated post and cr will remove them. |
