We're new to MCPS, and I can't find anything about this on the MCPS website.
Does MCPS restrict the monetary value of gifts to teachers, like for holiday gifts? We're not swimming in money and so I don't have the ability to go gangbusters or anything, but it occurred to me that the threshold might be very low (as it is for USPS carriers). Is there anyone who knows what the rules are? |
| You can give up to $25 at a time. I think you can give $50 total in a year. |

I have given up to $100. Did not know there was a threshold.
Good to know. |
+1 I don't think these are always enforced though. First, they haven't gone up with the rate of inflation. And also because in some districts I've seen more expensive gifts given without concern. And certainly not in a showy manner. |
| I'm a parent and a teacher. We have chosen to give our child's teacher "above the limit" but certainly nothing obnoxiously over the top. |
| Parent and teacher here too...i am well aware of the $25 "limit". However, some teachers are truly remarkable and should be acknowledged. I do not hesitate to exceed the limit (again, nothing crazy) for the teachers who go above and beyond for my family. |
