Work for Democratice Party

DS has done some pretty significant work for a local Democrat (not say, Barack Obama). Would this be looked down upon at a religious school? School in question is Boston College, which is Catholic.

Boston, and Massachusetts generally, are still very Democratic (despite their choice of Governor yesterday).

Interestingly we worried about the opposite question with liberal SLACS - would they see being a Boy Scout as a negative.

I remember reading one article about how activities like 4-H and ROTC actually put you at a disadvantage as far as Ivy admissions went.

Agree, not a problem. But, if this is an office holder I would focus on the office and not the person's party affiliation. It's just not appropriate to focus on the latter.

"Overall, 57 percent of Catholics affiliate with the Democrats and 40 percent with the Republicans when those leaning toward one or the other party are included. The Democrats held a three-to-two lead before we included the leaners."

I expect the Democratic percentage is much higher among those involved in higher education in Massachusetts.

According to the exit polls for 2014, Catholics went 54-46, with Republicans in favor. The number for white Catholics is even higher, and I'm sure the number for wealthy white Catholics (which is what a lot of the Boston College demographic is) is higher than that.

I wouldn't worry. I don't think BC is a particularly conservative campus. Besides, everybody knows most young people are liberal and can be excused for it. You know the old saw: a 20 year old conservative has no heart, and a 40 year old liberal has no brain. At least your teen has shown an interest in politics, which is more than many teens can say. Based on the outcome of the 2014 elections, I wouldn't advertise I had anything to do with the Democrats.

And based on some of the actions of Republicans with civil rights, I wouldn't advertise I had anything to do with Republicans.

Now, it's even and we can move on with college discussion.
