| Any feedback on either of these schools that you can share? |
| I know two families that have kids there (one is a family of 6 kids) and they love it. |
Left out the school and more info....the kids are at JHFI and another family has 3 kids there. Again, they love it but told me if you have a problem with your child not reading in English at school until 2nd grade, its not the school for you. As for the Montessori, I know a parent that got in and withdrew her child after one month. She was not pleased and felt there was a serious communication breakdown. |
| My daughter just started Kindergarten at JHFI and we really like the school and its environment! It is amazing how quickly she has picked up French only two months into the school year. Due to the extra county funding for the 2014-2015 school year, each of the 4 kindergarten classrooms have their own assistant teacher. The PTSA is very active and the parents seem to be really involved and care. The kids are totally immersed in the target language and English is not taught until the second grade. This isn't a school where you can just drop off your child and leave the teaching up to the school. You must be involved so your child can excel. Bottom line, our family is very happy with our choice to send her to the French Immersion program! |
| Thanks for the input! |
| Is there aftercare at JHFI? What is offered for aftercare activities or after school activities? Any sports? Music lessons? Outside of classroom content what extras are offered? |
| Is common core the standard there or IB PYP? |
Yes, Aftercare is offered through AlphaBest. My child is currently enrolled in before/aftercare and enjoys it! Afterschool activities are offered which include the French Club, Robotics, a Comic Book writing Program, Tae Kwon Do, soccer, basketball and cheerleading among a host of other activities. The school is under the Common Core Standards/PARCC and is currently a candidate for IB PYP! |
