No, it is not always the week before Easter. If Easter is early, it is sometimes the week after Easter.

When is the last time that happened? Seems like it's been the week before regardless of the date of Easter the years we've been in MCPS.

Last year Easter Monday was a make up day for the extra snow days.

The break always includes Easter, but sometimes Easter is at the beginning and sometimes at the end of the break. It all depends how early Easter is in the month.

In 2015, for example, the MoCo spring break is the week after easter. They do have good friday off in addition to the spring break week. But it always "touches" easter either at the beginning or end.

Easter 2016 is late March, so chances are spring break will be the week following Easter?

Doesn't really matter, in the past 10 years we've lived in 4 different states (work makes me move a lot) all with different spring break schedules but Disney World Special Rate block out period always covered the days we had spring break.

In other words… Disney knows when everyone has spring break, when they are most likely to go to Disney world thus no discounts…

It's either Good Friday plus the week after Easter (as it will be this spring) or the week before Easter plus Easter Monday.

The school board is voting on next years calendar on Nov 11.

I think that they also take Passover into account. If possible the spring break week will include the first couple nights of Passover. If Passover is before Easter, then it'll be the week before ending with Easter. If Passover is after Easter then it'll be the week after beginning with Easter.
