Getting sleepy on ADHD stimulants

DS is taking 10mg Adderall and starts getting sleepy 4 hours after taking. He says he is so much more focused, but very sleepy. Has anyone else experienced this?

Does it help you focus even though you are sleepy. We're in the first month of meds and trying to figure out what works. Yesterday, as a trial, I gave DS 10mg Adderall XR at 1:30pm, just to see how long it would last. He was sleepy and sort of zoned, he ate dinner as usual and went to bed at a regular time.

Added 500 mg of Tyrosine (natural supplement) when he started "coming down" and it really seemed to help, not entirely, but better than nothing.

We just started on Adderal 5 mg a few weeks ago, and I have noticed him getting sleepy mid-day more than he did before. I was trying to decide if I was just imagining it.

Are you taking XR? My DS writes down when he starts to get sleepy, which is a few hours after taking it. I'm hoping his body will adjust and this will pass.
