Nov 1st deadline for EA/ED...

Oh the stillness in the air! Does it feel like the entire region is hunkered down and working on their apps? The house is eerily quite. Tick, tock, tick, tock...

Wonder what the Seniors are going to obsess about from tomorrow?

Of all the things to get snarky about, you pick this? Weird.

1. The rest of their applications

2. Whether they will be admitted.

Seriously, take this time to knock off a couple more applications unless your DC is an athletic recruit. Nothing worse than having to do applications between Dec 15-31 after you've been deferred or rejected from your first choice.

DD got it done 2 days ago. Her friends are coming over today to hang out. They are done as well. Good luck.

OP here. Where was the "snark" in my post?

I am just commenting on how years of prep and work is culminating in this one small date. College has been on the mind of these kids for years and it is going to feel strange not to have that on their head anymore. Yes, I also recognize that there will be many more apps to fill, however this was the first batch of apps...and it will be done with today! I have a neighborhood with 6 seniors, and it just feels that the past week everything was subdued and quite still.

It isn't really "one small date". My senior and his friends finished their early applications by about mid-month. They were all out and having fun last night- which might be why is seems quiet this morning.

Um, OK. But many kids have already heard from some schools, others completed their EA/ED applications before today, many will still apply regular decision, and kids will still be anxious about where they get in or what's the best choice. I guess I don't see today, in particular, as quite as momentous as you'd suggested, so I thought you were being snarky about the fact that kids have ambitions. My bad.

Let's not be too dramatic - it's an important time in a person's life, but if this is what the past 18 or years have been all about I pity your DC.

If they will get in or not.

I just had two procrastinators click submit on ED applications. Nothing but relief here!

Lighten up, folks. OP is being wry. Also, lots of kids obsess and polish the essay until the very last minute. My kid certainly did (and got in)!

Seriously! Why the rude responses to OP's post? Do you people have no sense of humor whatsoever? Must everything be taken so literally?

I'm with you, OP. It's quiet and calm around here. We finished (oh, sorry, DD finished!) the EA apps around noon today, clicked them on their merry way at last!! Now for a few days' break from this relentless college stuff, and onto the next batch, due Dec. 1, and the final batch due Jan. 1. It will be easier from now on, since the Common App stuff is done, and DD's written most of her essays for the other apps. No more college visits until we get acceptances in April. She has to compare $$ packages, so we can't decide until then.

My neighbor's an athlete, and already in at his first choice. The calm on his mom's face! I won't know that feeling until May!

It's quiet, peaceful.....for now....
