| I am intrigued about making my own food for our puppy. We won't get him for a month so I am looking into what we will be feeding him. My main concern is how do I know he is getting all the right nutrients? especially a puppy. Are there good resources for me to look into. If it matters he will be a small-medium golden doodle. I love to cook and do so daily so cooking for another mouth is ok. |
| I'm getting a sm/m goldendoodle soon, too. Who is you're breeder?! I wonder if they are litter mates! |
| Your*... Autocorrect |
| We make a mix of brown rice, cooked ground turkey and frozen vegetables. Make it about once a week and keep it in the fridge. We use that for one meal and dry food the other meal. I'd get advice from your vet about nutrients. |

http://dogaware.com/diet/index.html I ended up hiring a nutritionist, as my dog had a disease. The diet formulated was nutritionally complete. My vet was amazed. |

The Whole Dog Journal has an excellent set of articles on making your own dog food, both cooked and raw.
Dr. Michael Fox, the vet, also has a dog food recipe on his site. This is also a good resource: http://www.amazon.com/The-Whole-Pet-Diet-Health/dp/1587612712 I make a mix of ground turkey, eggs, ground parsley, carrots, bell peppers, flaxseed meal, cottage cheese and some canned pumpkin. This is made in a big batch, portioned out and frozen. I also add calcium, fish oil, probiotics and other supplements at feeding time. |

19:30 here.
I missed the part about the OP's dog being a puppy. I would consult a vet, since pups typically have higher nutrition needs than adult dogs. |
| I would keep the puppy on food used by the breeder. What does the breeder feed adult dogs? |
we moved out of the area so she is in Maine-we live outside of Boston now. |
Gotcha- my pup is coming from Alabama. |
Awwww from a puppy mill? How sweet |
| No. |
| Wow. If I has time for that, I would write a symphony. |
