What to do with tons of hummus?

Anonymous
So we had a party this weekend and forgot to take out the 2 containers of hummus from the fridge.

How can we use it up, dipping veggies and pita chips in it is going to get old fast..

any creative thoughts welcome!

Eat it!! Yum yum.

Besides dipping, I use it on sandwiches and in salads. Spread it on tortillas/flatbreads/pita bread and add your other fillings (for me that's usually vegetables and either chicken or turkey). I like to make a version of a salad (personal sized) from Panera - a bunch of spinach in a bowl (I use a pasta bowl), topped with diced tomatoes (or cherry tomatoes), sliced cucumber, thinly sliced red onion, sliced chicken breast, and a big scoop of hummus, with lemon squeezed over the top.

If your hummus is plain, add some flavorings to it to change things up. I often stir in a red pepper/eggplant spread from TJ's, along with some crushed red pepper to give it a kick. You can add lots of other savory things like pesto, chopped or pureed olives (or some tapenade if you've got that), other pureed cooked vegetables, roasted garlic, dill and lemon, etc. It marries well with so many flavors.

Bring it to work and put it out with some pita chips and veggies to share.

Make a "sushi" wrap with it. Get some sheets of nori, spread hummus on it, put some thinly sliced vegetables. Roll (or eat like a burrito), and cut like maki rolls.

Put it in my belly.

You can use it in a homemade salad dressing. Experiment with it. Add fresh lemon juice, oils, vinegars, spices, etc to thin it out.

OP, thank you for this thread. I just made hummus for the first time last night and didn't realize how much I would end up with! I brought it into work today but will likely still have a ton leftover.
