when exactly are deadlines?

| I am sorry to say DC is in the boat where the time of a deadline on a day matters. If the deadline is Oct 31, does that mean 11:59 pm Oct 31? |

| In our experience, yes. DD even used local time to gain her an extra hour or three (at schools in mid-west and CA). |

People will certainly get things in throughout the day of the deadline.
Have you considered telling your DC that it means midnight the night before, to create an extra day of cushion? |

| Another practical thing to keep in mind with an 11:59 deadline: there are several steps required after the application itself is complete. Several boxes to check or waivers of some such, and then of course the credit card info and processing. The system at this point is slow, sometimes mind-numbingly slow. It's very stressful at the very last minute (I speak from experience of course). But I do know of several stories of parents saying the SUBMIT button was hit at 11:50 and their kids are now at top colleges. |
