Staying Off-Site at Disney - Meal Planning

Anonymous
We are going to Disney in a few weeks. Staying off-site at a home in Windsor Hills.

Just wondering - for those of you who have stayed off-site:

Do you often eat breakfast at the house and then lunch and dinner out? Or do you try to eat/cook more at the house? If you ate a lot at the house, did you do grocery shopping when you first arrived there? If so, where?

When you eat your meals out, do you eat at the Disney parks or at restaurants around Windsor Hills? Does anyone have recs for restaurants around Windsor Hills? I assume there are a lot of family chain restaurants nearby.

We have a 4.5 year old and a 21 month old of that matters. Just trying to figure out how much we should budget for meals and if we should plan on spending time grocery shopping or doing meal prep.

Thanks!

We just got back from Windsor Hills last week! It is great!

We bought easy breakfast items that we could eat quickly (bagels, yogurt, and fruit.) Except one day we went to Cracker Barrel...YUM.

We bought a package of Uncrustables (splurge!) to throw in our bag for a mid-AM snack for the kids. Because we didn't go back to the condo mid day, we ate lunch in the park. Most days we ate dinner in the park too - or at Downtown Disney (Earl of Sandwich is really good and not too pricey and Wolfgang Puck Express is good too.) One night we did go through McDonalds on the way to the condo (we were all beat and the kids were falling asleep!)

Unless you are planning to spend a lot of time in the condo, I wouldn't plan on extensive meal prep. Get snack items and drinks and you'll be fine.

Also, go to the condo to check out what things you'll need before going to the store. Our condo has extra rolls of toilet paper and paper towels, sugar packets for my coffee, laundry detergent - people buy things and then don't use them all and leave it behind.

Have fun!

PP I love the uncrustables idea. Last time we went we took Nurtigrain bars which also worked well.
