Do your kids bring their folders home everyday?

DD is in fourth grade, she came home on Wednesday with her science folder which contained seven lessons and a study guide for tomorrow's test. There was a lot of material to review and I wish she had brought the folder home sooner. Do you ask your kids to bring their folders and notebooks more frequently or do you just wait for the teacher to tell them to take them home two days before the test?

DS is in 4th grade and brings home his folder every day. If there is a test, there is a study guide in the folder.
He's supposed to bring his notebook home a few days before a test but I have yet to see a notebook come home.

My son brings his homework folder most of the time, sometimes empty because he forgets to put the assignments inside the folder. I found out about a science test the day before. AND he forgot to bring his science notebook to study. Sigh. I had to ask him what the test was about and looked online for information on the subject. His teacher had prepared him well, thank goodness. I wish the teacher would use the online blackboard to post this things. It would be helpful for kids with ADHD.
