| Is anyone here familiar with D Dimer? I ended up in the ER because I was having shortness of breath and leg pain, they did a d dimer test which came back elevated but my lung scan and leg scan came back negative for clots. My breathing is back to normal but I'm still having leg pain, my leg isn't swollen but it just aches. I'm also concerned about why my d dimer would be elvated if there were no clots found? |

OP - I had something similar. I had weird chest sensations so my doctor ran a d - dimer test to rule out a PE. The d dimer test was positive but my doc said he didn't think I needed more of a work-up. I remember googling and ended up just letting the positive result go.
This is what I Googled: False positive readings can be due to various causes: liver disease, high rheumatoid factor, inflammation, malignancy, trauma, pregnancy, recent surgery as well as advanced age. |
