Anyone ever done a wardrobe consultation?

Anonymous
I am beyond frustrated with my wardrobe and poor shopping skills and have decided to hire a wardrobe consultant to help me edit my closet and take me shopping to learn how to buy the right things for my shape and my lifestyle. I'm excited about it but also a little worried that it will end up being a waste of money. Just wondering if anyone has ever done this and if you benefited from it.

Make an appointment with a personal shopper at Nordstrom.

Don't pay someone to be your wardrobe consultant.

I don't want to only shop at Nordstrom and I want to know what to keep and what to toss of what I already have. I need more than just someone trying to sell me what her store sells. I'm looking for a total overhaul.

But how does the person at Nordstroms know what is already in your closet and what pieces your should purchase to augment what you already have?

I have a friend who offers this service - she doesn't sell clothes, and I don't believe she gets kickbacks, though she does have relationships with certain stores.

Her name is Kelley Kirchberg, and the company is Divine Style DC. http://divinestyledc.com/

OP here--thanks for the rec. I have already booked with a wardrobe consultant for a closet edit, and if it goes well I will book a shopping trip, too. If I am pleased with my experience, I'll share the contact info. here.

Also try Stitch Fix. Totally was able to shake up my wardrobe this fall doing it.

I also like StitchFix. For my closet assessment I went with Cathy Starnes. I have recommended her here before. http://stylespeaks.com/ She is really nice and will go through your closet and sort things to tell you what to keep and what to pitch. She charges extra to help you create outfits (and a look book) out of what you have. She also does personal shopping (she is a former Nordstrom personal shopper). She is adorable and very sweet.
