Flu Shot

Anonymous
I've done a fresh cycle, an FET, and am now on meds for a second FET. Would it be ridiculous of me to avoid the flu shot? I tend to get a big welt and run a fever for a few days after the shot, so it must have some negative impact on my system and I'm trying to do everything right so this cycle will work. The RE said it was fine, so maybe I'm being ridiculous...

How far away from the transfer date are you?

Like pp asked, how far away? And what do you do for work? Commute? Other activities? If you got the flu you'd be in trouble. So for someone like me who is around sick people, takes public transportation, and volunteers at a homeless shelter, my risk for getting the flu is pretty high and a larger risk to getting pregnant/a healthy pregnancy than a reaction to the flu shot.

My best friend works from home and pretty much hangs out with a small number of people a week and isn't around other kids. Her risk is pretty low for getting the flu.

I got one at the beginning of my last (failed) FET. The RE said it was okay and I was more worried about getting the flu than getting the shot at that point.

About 3 weeks. I usually feel sick for a full week.

This is one of those things that you have to do what you won't regret. If you get the shot but don't get pregnant, will you always wonder if it was because of the shot? If you don't get the shot and do get pregnant, will you be willing to then get the shot knowing you might get a fever while newly pregnant? Regret management is how I always though of it (which I think I got from DCUM).

Don't get the shot. Not having a flu shot is better than causing changes to the body.
