| can you recommend your OB who delivers at VHC - Arlington? i'm 15 wks pregnant, looking to switch practices. thx! |
| I love Williams and Caskie at Women to Women. |
| I love all the doctors at Northern VA Physicians to Women. Drs. Borelli, Eliot, and Lashgari-Prather are wonderful. I even think the nurses are great. |
| OP, which practice do you want to leave and why? |
Ditto. |
| Care For You obgyn, the doctor is Piness. I've gone to her since I was 18 and am going to her now with my first pregnancy. I live in Chevy Chase and am willing to do the commute because she's just that good. She's so down to earth and practical. Be prepared to wait in the waiting room for a long time, but she's worth it. |
Good luck getting her to deliver your baby! She shares call with two other practices, so as great as she might be for visits, you're very likely to have a stranger in the delivery room. |
| Another vote for Women to Women. Although I like some of their doctors more than others (Williams and Shah delivered my babies and were wonderful; Caskie is fantastic as well), there wasn't a single one I didn't feel comfortable with the idea of being the doctor on call when I delivered. |
| I go to Healthcare for Women. Have had a great experience with Drs. Porter and Fernandez. |
| Armstrong/Brannon practice. They're all great. |
+1 to Healthcare for Women. One really nice thing is that they don't share call with anyone. One thing I thought was awesome is that the doctors were not afraid to say that another doctor in the practice was better at something. For example, I wanted to schedule an ECV for my breech baby and Dr Porter told me the most successful doctor for ECVs was Dr. Fernandez and she could do it for me, but he had a much higher success rate than her. |
PP here - I really liked all the doctors, not just the ones I called out. Porter and McClendon were probably my favorites. I think they had a new doctor join in June 2013 to replace Dr. Nguyen and people on DCUM really like her (she used to be with Piness that someone above recommended). |
Not the OP, but if she's anything like me, she might be switching practices so she can deliver at a practice closer to home. I had started going to a practice in DC when I still lived in the city, but was living in Arlington when I got pregnant and really preferred to deliver at VHC 5 minutes from my house than at Sibley. I switched practices at 22 weeks. |
I go to Healthcare for Women as well. I followed Dr. Casadaban there after she left Care for You. I also like that they don't share call with other offices and you have to meet all the doctors so the doctor that delivers you won't be a stranger. Might not be your favorite of the doctors, but at least isn't a stranger. Each one has a "surgery day", so if you know the schedule, you know who will deliver you before you even call in during labor. Dr. Paik delivered my daughter. Dr. Winterling successfully flipped by her at 37 weeks (she had been breech since 20 weeks) and she was a BIG baby, 10+lbs at birth. Wait times are usually pretty good and you can do the glucose screen in their office. |
Another vote for them. I've been with them for two pregnancies now, one uneventful and one kind of a hot mess, and they've been great. Avoid Wednesday appointments if wait times are an issue. |
