My Dad is about to retire, and I am looking for some special gift ideas. His work has received some press coverage and been in the papers over the years. I thought about creating a book that is essentially a collection of some of these articles and photos, but am having trouble coming up with a specific idea for what to do/how to do it. Has anyone made a similar commemorative book? Thanks in advance! |
Are you asking how to scrapbook? |
Go on shutterfly. You could also creat a "newsletter" (if you have apple pages they have templates and put it under one of those fancy glass acrylic things at shutterfly too. I think they are mostly used for wedding things but a retirement commemoration would be nice too.
You will have to scan in some things if you do it all electroniclay |
forg et that, he wants to forget work, get him a big green egg and it will give him a new hobby.

How do you know that? I think OP's idea is thoughtful and appropriate. |
I like the scrapbook idea. I also like it when I am asked to contribute a letter for someone and they collect them (this is usually for something someone from work that does this) and it is mixed with the press the person go.
As child, you might want to focus on the family side, not the work side. (unless you think no one from work will) Schedule a family portrait session with a good solid photographer. Make sure to get lots of poses, from a picture of your Dad and his wife to the whole family, to just the siblings, to Dad & the grandkids. |
