No, not unless your kid has hearing loss. They are specifically designed for kids with cochlear implants for example and typically developing peers in speech: http://www.riverschool.net/cs/the_river_approach/information_hoh_families |

Do you want a school that specifically works on language delays in the way a speech therapist would? Or just a school that has a language emphasis?
My DS (age 2) has made amazing progress in his expressive language delay in his preschool. I attribute this largely to his teacher, who has been patient with him and has done a lot of one on one work with him on enunciation of words, etc- she does all the same things the speech therapist does, etc. |
That was not our experience. We got three invaluable years there and our DC is now experiencing academic and social success in a mainstream environment that we don't think would have occurred without the help from KTS. It could be different now of course, student bodies change and teachers change but we had a very good experience there. |
| Dolley madison was great for my child with expressive delays. We found it to be a very supportive environment. |

what is keep at kingsbury?
|
| KEEP is the pres-k/k program at kingsbury. Wonderful school. My child w a severe language is doing very well there. They use singing and chanting to help the kids develop their language, learn how to spell, learn the calendar. My child who at times has been described as nonverbal now tells people how happy he is when asked how he is doing, sings about the days of the weeks and the months of the calendar, the weekend. Plus they have a music therapy program at the school. |
You mean "articulation?" It's lovely that the teacher has been helpful, but a speech therapist has a very targeted ways of dealing with articulation: http://www.asha.org/PRPSpecificTopic.aspx?folderid=8589935321§ion=Treatment |
| Kts is a great school! We had a wonderful experience with the preschool. I don't know why anyone would say they are horrible!! |
