How do you organize/keep contained bookbags and work bags?

How do you organize/keep contained bookbags and work bags? Also, all the stuff that goes in and out of the house all day -- mail, school work, loose change, etc.?

We don't have a mudroom but have a wall in our kitchen that could accommodate cubbies, shelves, hooks, whatever, but we have to look at it.

We have two full size backpacks, one diaper bag, one purse, one leather briefcase, two laptop bags, and about 3 or 4 lunch boxes/bags that go in and out of the house daily or almost daily. Right now, they are in a wall unit with nine cubbies, but the cubbies aren't large enough to hold the bigger items, so they hang out and look sloppy. Also, we have a file folder to sort mail, school work, etc. before it goes upstairs to the filing cabinet, but no one uses it, ending up with a pile of mail on the counter. We could also use a way to hang jackets at an accessible child height, and contain shoes. Please help (cheaply)!

We bought a long foyer table from World Market that has an open shelf on the bottom. I bought large baskets to put on the open
Shelf. These fit purse, diaper bag, brief case, umbrellas, assorted toddler shoes and other misc items. It's not a perfect system, but helps. I hung a pretty mirror over the table and plan to "stage" the items on top of it at some point when the toddler is less into breaking everything in sight.

I have stylish hooks right by our front door. I remove the bags when entertaining.

We have a similar issue and are looking for a storage bench to stash the bags in our foyer.
