Switching schools based on before/after school care location

Anonymous
Is it possible to switch schools between counties if the before an after care is in another county? Example, live in Fairfax county, DS care is on military base in Arlington county. Can DS go to an Arlington school? Thanks.

Not unless you are willing to pay tuition to the Arlington Public schools.

NP here, has anyone here done this? Approximately how much does this cost?

I think it's pretty much the per pupil cost.

My DW and I both teach for FCPS. We looked into bringing our DS with one of us from PWCo, but it was just too expensive.

It is expensive.

There might some exception for military because I know that for FCPS, the school registration forms ask if you are in the military

OP, if your base care is at Fort Myer, call Long Branch Elementary and speak with the principle. There are lots of children at the Fort Myer before and after school care that go to Long Branch so the administration at the school would be familiar with all the rules and if there are any exceptions for Military.
