So, like a good DCUM'er I posted our name choices here. Thanks to this boards's preference for normal names coupled with my own raging hormones..we went with a solid traditional name. (Think William or Henry) I really wanted to go with something a bit spunkier (Think Leo or Max) and almost a year later, still regret not using the name I wanted. Our son would have fit that name perfectly.
So, please let this be a lesson to others. Choose the name you want and don't allow others to sway your decisions. I'm still feeling bad about our decision and wonder if I always will

You can call William Liam, or Henry Hank to get a little spunk out of the traditional.
FWIW, I think of Leo and Max the same as William and Henry - they're all in the Grandpa/Old Man category in my eyes. |
I'm sorry that you're so hung up on this still. Wow. |
| PPD maybe, OP? |
| Was it really something "spunky" like Leo or Max or was it Braden or Ryder? Big difference. Leo and max are fine names. |
| Call him whatever name you wanted and tell people it's a nickname. It's fine. Really it is. |
|
Let me get this straight. It's my -- my -- fault that you don't like your kid's name -- a year after he was born. Because it's not "spunky" enough.
Unreal. |

| Those names are all in the same category to me. |
I knew someone would say that. Definitely not PPD, happiest I've ever been. Just a feeling of we got everything right..except his name. |
| I think you should sue Jeff. |
| And just to be clear, I blame myself for listening to DCUM. Not actually blaming anyone for their opinions. OP |
Yes, and add a class of defendants of all skinny white women driving black SUVs, with a claim of insufficient spunkitude in namology. |
