With flu season and ebola what is an effective way to wash fruit and vegetables killing germs and viruses?

I don't think a water rinse off will be enough

In theory, fruit could spread Ebola if it has been contaminated by bats carrying Ebola virus. As always, do not eat fruit that appears to have been bitten by an animal. Choose fruit and vegetables with intact skin. Wash with clean water before eating.
