Rent a minivan OR rent stuff?

Anonymous
We are going to North Carolina for a vacation in mid April. My family of 4 has a sedan with the option of a roof top carrier. We have always said that if we needed a bigger car for a vacation we would rent 1 as opposed to purchasing a bigger car for all the time.

Where we are going you can rent all the gear you need....
Pack and play, stroller, bikes etc.

Would you rent a mini van for the trip? Or take your car and rent the stuff?

The bonus of renting a minivan would be that during the drive one of the adults could sit in the back with the kids if needed.
Cost of renting the minivan would be a little more than renting all of the stuff.

Thanks for any tips.

I'd rent the minivan. To me it would be less worry to rent a minivan before the trip and know that all your gear is in good working order and will be there when you arrive. It would make the trip easier to have more room in the car.

I'd def rent the minivan...then there's teh familiarity with your own stuff, etc. And having that extra seat for a parent to jump back there is priceless on a long trip!

Go for the minivan.

Plus, it'll be a nice treat for the kids riding in a "new" and bigger car. You're guaranteed to have all the stuff you need (stroller, PnP, etc.) and that's it's clean, safe, works, and familiar. Plus, you don't have to worry about returning it when you're done.
