The waiting is killing me. It's been a year. We finally made it to the top of the waitlist a few weeks before school started but it doesn't appear that anyone is going to drop out. Is it possible that I will have to wait the whole year?? Everyone says that with all of the military families moving in and out I'm sure to get a spot soon. I don't see how that's possible considering that most of these families have SAHMs. It seems like it would be pretty rare for someone to move away just as the school year is beginning.
2 years
sorry I meant it took us 2 years from start to finish
Have you called recently? |
I call once a week and they laugh at me and tell me to be patient. When I was further down on the list I moved up so quickly - every week I jumped up a few spots. I realize that's because people on the list were opting out for other aftercare situations. Now I'm #1 and it's all about waiting for someone already in the system to drop out. I know I should expect a slowdown but it's torture and my current back up situation is temporary and may not be able to continue much longer. |
We are currently very close to the top and I planned to not have a spot this entire year especially after waiting for being on the list for almost three years. There is just no guarantee. Sometimes lists move sometimes they do not. Maybe it will move when they do their next "mailing" when SACC emails or mails out letters asking if you want to still be on the list. I think this happens 2X a year BUT it may just be in spring.
it really depend on the school. There is no way to know when one kid will leave. I could tell you I was #1 for a week, but in reality there is no way to give you an answer. I'd assume though that once school has started the movement is pretty slow.
Honestly seeing that we're mid fall I wouldn't expect anything until at least January, possibly later. You may not get the spot until closer to the end of the year (people moving) or next year.
It is very upredictable. In early August we were number 12. Two days before school started I called and we were at #3. Later that day we got a call about a spot.
About six months. Got in two days before school started.
We were number 12 at the beginning of the school year. Just got offered a spot starting in November.

We were #1 for most of a summer before DS1 started at the school. I called SACC about a week before school started and asked about my prospects for getting in. The woman I spoke with was really helpful and was able to get us in for before school care (but not after school care, which was fine, because we had other arrangements). I'd suggest calling periodically.

We were #1 in mid-August. Got in this week! Finally!
Anyone know about the kent gardens wait list? Also, I heard they have some after school PTA run classes! including during summer breaks. Any feedback on those as well?
You may be #1, but sibling and transfer priorities come before you.
