Is there such a thing as mail-order food delivery?

| Dear friend's son is very ill and their family is asking for help with meals. The problem is that they live in the exurbs of Nashville and I live here in DC. Does anyone know of a food delivery service through the mail? TIA! |

| Omaha Steaks does all kinds of meals (not just steak). There was a groupon or certifikid just this morning for a Let's Dish meal delivery service also. |

Can you look into a service in their area? Like Peapod (Giants service so something comparable) for groceries and Grubhub for delivery? |

OP here. Thanks! They literally live on a farm in a little place called Lebanon, so when I looked this stuff up, they wouldn't deliver there. Love the tasteofchicago.com idea. I googled services and wasn't sure of quality. This looks really good (and Omaha Steaks too). |

Many grocery stores have online order and delivery. All sorts of restaurants deliver, especially pizza/sub/Asian type ones. Many larger cities also have food delivery service businesses that will deliver just about anything.

I've hired a private chef in these situations. I explain that the family is ill or just lost someone and ask if instead if preparing the meals in the families home, they would do it in their home and deliver.
Everyone has always been very kind and helpful under the circumstances. |
