I had heard that many of the campers are Acorn Hill students, understandably. Anyone know how friendly it is for a sweet but shy non-student camper?

I think your sweet child would love it there. You should go visit the grounds on a weekend (if there's nothing going on there.) You and your child will fall in love with the place. We've looked at ton of schools, and there's nothing quite like this place. If you like the unique feel of the place, ask to meet the teachers.
