Boxed mix cake tastes super eggy. What went wrong?

I made a boxed mix cake (Duncan Hines yellow) and it tastes very strongly of eggs. What went wrong?

I only buy Trader Joe's box mixes and they never taste too eggy.

Huh. I've made that mix a few times recently for a cake decorating class and it never tasted eggy. Did you get the kind that uses oil or butter?

The eggs were bought yesterday. I suppose there might have been 2 that were off and I didn't notice when cracked.
