Amazon prime tv part- why should I keep this (tv/movie selection only)

Anonymous
So our prime membership is up for renewal and I don't see why we should keep it. We usually easily spend over $25 or $35 to get free shipping, usually plan ahead so don't need it in two days or anything so the shipping part was nice but not "necessary." We have hulu plus and netflix (cut the cord so no cable) but rarely find anything on AZ prime beyond the shipping (which is not critical) to make us want to pay that $89 or so per year. Please don't mention callou or other kiddie programs, our kids are in ES and really not into the super young programs- and netflix has plenty (though we restrict the disney stuff since - well, it's disney).

thank you

What is wrong with Disney?

We don't have hulu plus or netflix. I find so many great shows for me (I have younger kids so that is a LOT of it for us). What kind of shows do you like? There are lots of threads on this. Or search what "Customers Also Watched" for your favorite shows. I got sucked into a lot of things that way!

Amazon has the Hbo shows.

I hear Transparent and The Cosmopolitans are both good (Amazon original shows). I also watch trashy MTV shows on there like Teen Mom.

OP here- so far, so for young kids ok, if you don't have netfli or hulu plus you may think amazon is ok.. but can anyone comment on who has or has had AZ prime/ netflix and/or hulu plus at one time?

We have Amazon Prime and HuluPlus. We like Hulu for current TV series (they used to have Super Why, but PBS Kids ahs their own app), and the fact that if you play one show in the series it'll keep playing the next one (good for background noise). Amazon we use for movies and older TV shows. Love both!

So cancel! Sounds like you won't miss it.

The only thing I found on Amazon Prime that I wanted to watch and Netflix didn't have was Orphan Black. And Amazon Prime streams so terribly I ended up giving up and getting the DVDs from the library.

I have Amazon Prime, Netflix, and Hulu Plus.

Hulu - great for current TV
Netflix - great for older TV seasons and movies
Amazon - HBO, newer movie releases plus rentals/downloads.

For example, I can only watch Avengers on Netflix - no Cap America or Iron Man but I can get those on Amazon. Amazon has a lot of subscriber and rental movies. We do take advantage of the 2 day shipping plus I use my Citi thank you points on Amazon to shop.

Amazon IV down side is the reliance on wifi which limits us when we're on the road.

Between the 3 yearly we still pay much less than a cable bundle and I don't run out of things to watch. We stream via TiVo, iPad, and iPhone.
