I am due with my first this summer and hope to decorate a nursery every bit as beautiful and fun as I would if I owned the unit.
I cannot paint the walls, nor make any (major) structural changes. I am reasonably crafty and have some ideas, but I am still looking for tips and suggestions for how we can make a super fun nursery in an apartment. Can you send me your success stories? Thanks. |
We used "Blik" wall decals. They peal right off when you're done.
I just was looking at those vinyl stick-ons that are easily removable for my child's nursery. I originally saw a set at land of nod and then found some really cute contemporary ones at etsy.com You could do something like that or just use art work as your big impact. I love those alphabet cards framed. Also, a big bright rug will do a lot to take the eye away from the lack of color on the walls as will some pretty drapes.
We used Wallies wall decals and they worked great!
colorful quilt on a quilt rod hanging on a wall, coordinating curtains and bedding
We own our house and opted to keep the walls white. We brought in colors with long/full drapes and an area rug. The effect is very pottery barn nursery -- versus baby/cutsy nursery. We love it - and I can't imagine the room painted.
Since babies cant sleep with any of the baby beeding anyways, we took her quilt and hung it on the wall over her crib. We also put up decals and a sign with her name.
www.roommatespeelandstick.com has a huge collection of removeable wall decals.
I used the crib bumpers as wall borders and hung the crib quilt on the wall.
I left my son's room white, too. (we rent a house). He has black furniture, and I used bright colored bedding (mint green), with curtains that matched. I had simple, pencil-drawn art in childlike images framed and put around the room. It looked bright, fun, and elegant at the same time. It "can" be done, just make the color "pop" elsewhere.
