22 m o Rocks Head Into Crib to Sleep

Anonymous
Has anyone experienced this? My 22 m o turns on the crib music, gets into a frog-like position, head down pointing into the corner of the crib, and thrusts herself back and forth into the bumper with such force that she moves the crib and you can hear the banging from the floor below. I am concerned she will hurt herself. Anyone else go though this or have any idea why she does this? She does it before naptime and bedtime. TIA.

We call it head banging at our house. OUr 23 mo has been doing it for well over a year. It's his way of self-soothing himself with rhythmic motion. SOme babies hum, some rock. Totally normal, and unless there are pointy toys in her crib, she won't hurt herself.

Yup, my 20 month old does the same thing. He is in a bed but he knocks his head on the wall at night.
