| In terms of SES and in terms of income. |
| What is SES? Senior Executive Service? |
|
Lower class- less than 40k a year, no savings, living hand to mouth.
Middle class- 40-200k. Savings, can afford basics and a middle class lifestyle. |
Socio-economic status |
| Class is a matter of learned behaviors, mores, and shared values. It has nothing to do with income. |
|
I think the income depends on where you live, but around here, I would say you need at least $80K to live a solid middle class lifestyles. Anything above $150K is upper/middle, and above $250K is upper.
Don't confuse "middle" class with being able to afford nice cars and flying vacations. That is above middle class. I think people's definition of middle class is quite skewed. |
If you have to ask, you sit squarely it he Low category. |
Don't be obtuse. |
Here's a chart of class definitions.

Largely agree with the above chart. You also have to factor in the fact that the DC area is high cost of living and high income, so the AHTI ranges are skewed even higher. This is why the high HHI earners pulling in 400k/500k are complaining that they are not really rich, merely upper middle class, as corroborated by this chart. |
| $1.5 million net worth is rich? Cough*bullsh!t*Cough |
|
I try not to think about this because there is no point (not being snarky).
I am 100% certain that most of us are upper class by world standards. |
| Who spells "uber" as "ubber" in a published chart? Immediately suspect. |
You're just jealous because you don't have multi-"hunderd" millions. |
Right, but then there is the whole 'who gives a shit about that' argument. Because I am doing better than somebody on the other side of the world, doesn't help me get through the day. |
