My closet is insane, seriously nuts. I need some encouragement or incentive to get rid of a ton of stuff. The hard part is I honestly like most of my stuff, but have WAY TOO MUCH. I think I have a shopping issue. I can afford it, but still, it's too much and kind of sickening in a way. Help! If you are a size 6 or so, and need clothes, I am hoping to soon have bags to give away. . . may be that would help me get rid of things!
Thanks in advance. |
| There are plenty of charitable and faith-based organizations that have a clothing ministry, if any of these items can be used in the workplace they'd be happy to take them (and you get a tax deduction). |
| Going forward, when you are shopping, you need a rule that the item has to be more fabulous than your favorite item in the wardrobe. |

I read a great tip on here a couple of years ago. When you bring your fall clothes out, put them all in the closet with the hangers backwards. Then as you wear things, turn their hangers forwards. Then at the end of the season, you know the things that you haven't worn.
I'm sort of in the same boat as you, OP, I haven't tried this yet but I might. I pull a ton of clothes out every season and end up wearing the same few doesn't things. |
| Keep track of what you wear for a month, and everything that is not special occasion wear and that doesn't get worn in that month, donate because you don't truly love it if you never felt like putting it on in 30 days. Then, adopt a one-in, one-out rule - for every item you buy,you have to donate something already in your closet. Then you'll only buy things you truly love. |
| Give yourself a set amount of hangers. Say 40, 50, 100, whatever you feel is reasonable. If those hangers are full, you can't bring anything else in unless you get ride of something. X number of hangers ONLY |

Thanks, this is helpful! |
| Build your wardrobe around a few neutral colors, such as beige, navy, gray, black or white. Add pops of color with accessories and tops. Mix and match all separates for maximum versatility. |
| Poor grad student here. Size 6 . Let me know if you're still interested in donating ! Rosey6172@gmail.com I would be so grateful!! |
Just get rid of everything you haven't worn in one year and see how much you lose. |
