Dump Cake!

Anonymous
I have a white/pineapple dump cake baking away, which smells divine (planning on a simple lemon glaze over top since I'm doing this one in a bundt pan)! What are your favorite combo's? I have a spice and chocolate cake mix in there, want to test a few things before an upcoming party.

IMO the yellow/butter cakes look better than white (we made several for a big group of workers once). I like chocolate with a can of cherry pie filling. Also pineapple/cherry with yellow cake, or blueberry/nuts.

OP Here - the cake came out fantastic! I would've used a yellow, but didn't have one.

I wish they had a different name. I know they're good and easy, and they're named for the act of dumping all the ingredients in the pan, but "dump cake" makes me think of garbage dumps or bathrooms!

I've never heard of a dump cake before.

My family's version of this is called "crazy cake." It's chocolate, and insanely good.

damnit, now I want to make one.

These sound great. How do you make dump cakes?

It is more gourmet if you use 2 cans of pitted dark bing cherries in place of cherry pie filling. Drain one of the cans.

I thought OP was dumped and was looking for a good recipe. I've never heard of a dump cake.

If you like pumpkin pie, this is a winner: http://livelaughrowe.com/pumpkin-dump-cake/

We should definitely rename them melange cakes or combo cakes or something better than "dump"

Don't some people say poke cake? Or is that something different. Poke is marginally better than dump!

Some little old lady does a commercial on late night cable TV pushing her dump cake cookbook.

I'm intrigued but can't see myself making anything that involves so much butter, plus I've never cooked with condensed milk before. This has inspired me to poke around the interwebs for something similar but less fattening!
