Any 5k runs coming up with a finisher's medal?

Anonymous
Son is excited that he is finally old enough to participate in organized 5k's and has been eyeing the race medals we have scattered throughout the house. Any 5k races coming up that include a finisher's medal? T-shirts are great but for his first one he wants a medal.

Baltimore Running Festival has a 5k with a cute medal! It's on Oct. 18

12:35 here again

How old is he? This one has a 5k, 10 miler and a half marathon, but you have to be at least 10 years old to do the 5k. There is a medal, and it doesn't specify if all races get a medal--but they are all listed on the medal, so I'd assume the 5k gets one--but you might want to clarify...

He just turned 10, which is perfect. He has always participated in the kiddie runs and watched his dad do the 10 milers, halves, etc. Both of those look great, thanks for the info!

I am doing this race, and it says you can get a prize, not sure about medals. The overall winner gets a turkey!

My kids (5 and 7) run in 5Ks all the time. They typically finish in top 3 in U9 age group and get medals. No need to wait until they are 10

12:44 here--When I said "you have to be 10 to do the 5k"--I wasn't referring to ALL 5ks--I was just explaining that specific 5k has an age requirement. I realize that there are many children under the age of 10 that have run 5ks (and longer distances!)

Does your 5 yo run the whole time? Did u do any training? Mine would like to do it but I'm not sure what kind of preparation is necessary. He's Very
Active but not necessary running 5 ks.

Bump! Looking for a 5k with a neat medal... but I'm an adult

I have a number of 10k races lined up, but looking for a nice 5k to add in-between, and maybe pick up some swag - or maybe a super neato shirt?

10k and half marathons are much more likely to have medals.

For a very young kid, I would look at potomac river running's mighty mile series.

For the K and up crowd who want to get more serious about running, the FPYC track program is amazing.
