upcoming wedding - to drink or not to drink?

Anonymous
this is month 3 of TTC. this month my friend is getting married and if i'm not pregnant, i'd really like to drink at the wedding. the wedding is day 27 of my cycle. last month i tested positive for LH on day 19 and 20. does that mean i ovulated on day 20? assuming i ovulate on day 20 again, then assuming the egg might implant as soon as 6 DPO, does that mean i can't drink at the wedding on day 27? could i trust a negative pregnancy test from that morning? how quickly after implantation do early pregnancy tests (like first response) show postive?

You can drink.

Can you just not drink at a wedding. Would it kill you to stay sober. You are trying to have a baby. Just give up the booze.

I drank up until testing positive a few days after missing expected period. Two healthy kids. You don't share a bloodstream until 5-6 weeks.

OP here. no, it wouldn't kill me to stay sober. and i will if i need to. just trying to figure out what my options are.

PP, where do i find that info about sharing blood supply?

You can drink up until the third week after conception. If you are on day 27, and you conceived on day 12-16 (which is typical), then you are fine.

20:41 - how do you know about the third week after conception?

Just don't drink, problem solved. Or. You continue spending needless hours gathering scientific research here on DCUM and the internet to be sure down to the hour when you could possibly have a drink and what the risk is. Or again just don't drink.

Take a test that morning. If it comes bank negative, there hasn't been implantation and you are not sharing blood supply.

Oh, FFS, have a drink or two. Don't get wasted, but relax and enjoy yourself. It is not an issue at that point.

Of course drink! I can't believe how many people aren't aware of the basics of early pregnancy.

And if anything, if you're not pregnant and drink, it'll probably lead to some good practice for getting pregnant next month

You can drink. You are not sharing anything with the baby that early.
