Need a dress that hides post-baby tummy

Anonymous
I'm going to a wedding in a few weeks and need a new dress. As a new mom, I have not lost all of my baby belly yet and I'm very self-conscious about it.
What style of dress would be best to conceal it? I'm 5'5" and wear a size 8, if that matters.
Thanks!

Congrats on being a new mom! I would try something with ruching around the mid-section, or maybe a dress with an empire waist. A shift dress might work, too. Also, consider wearing some fabulous jewelry like a statement necklace or earrings to draw attention away from your stomach. Hope this helps!

Thank you! Good tips! I am trying to shop online (because shopping with baby-ugh) and was not sure where to begin!

A wrap dress or a shift dress worked best for me. The wrap dresses were usually also nursing friendly.

I always liked an a-line dress with a structured top - no soft/drapey fabrics. Ruching at the waist can help, but empire waists or wraps that hit above the baby belly really didn't. Spanx!

Awesome suggestions!
Yes, I've definitely found anything too loose just makes it worse. Nothing like being asked when you're due after you've just had a baby, huh? Awful!

Why do people think wrap dresses hide a belly? They're the most unforgiving ever!

Agree with the folks who say wrap dresses and empire waists are bad picks when you're trying to minimize your belly. I did well with dresses that had a well fitted top, clearly defined waist, and then flared out. Like 50s party dresses. You want a nice quality fabric that won't cling. I'm seeing a lot of dresses called "fit and flare" right now that tend to fit these parameters.
