Lemon Tree Playgroup Grows!

Due to overwhelming demand, Lemon Tree Playgroup, serving Logan Circle, U Street, DuPont Circle, Adams Morgan and surrounding neighborhoods, is pleased to announce that they will open a second playroom this November and extend their enrollment to include children up to 4 years of age! This additional room will allow Lemon Tree to double its enrollment and also group children into two separate age appropriate rooms (Little Lemons: 6mo-2yrs & Lemon Drops: 2-4yrs)

Enrollment begins now so please visit www.lemontreeplaygroup.com for more information and to register for one of our weekly open houses.

It's wonderful to see that what started as a small group of local families has blossomed into a larger, more extended family that is meeting the needs of our community.

Come join in the fun at Lemon Tree!

I am sharing this announcement as the mom of a 2-yr-old that currently attends Lemon Tree. We are so lucky to have discovered this group. It's been a great way to introduce my daughter to children her own age and to begin developing her social skills that will become increasingly important as she approaches school age. Being relatively new to the area, it's also been great for my husband and I, as we have made some great connections with the other parents in the group, both in the playroom and through the numerous adult social functions that Lemon Tree hosts throughout the year. Lemon Tree's 'open door' policy (i.e. you can come and go on the days and times that suit you and your child) provides the flexibility that me and my toddler need. At the same time, each day provides just enough structure to get her accustomed to having a daily routine. Beyond all of these features, Lemon Tree is FUN! Each morning, she can't wait to join her peers at play, song, and dance, and in the many other special activities the staff plans for the children. We've been with the Lemon Tree family since it opened its doors in June, and it's been truly remarkable to watch the children grow in friendship and share so much joy and laughter. If you're in search of an affordable, worthwhile way for you (and/or your caregiver) and your child to spend your mornings, I highly recommend you check out Lemon Tree!

Lemon Tree has been an amazing experience for my girls. It's so fun to watch them light up when I tell them we are going to Lemon Tree, and they are always talking about Ms. Sarah and all their friends. I have also found it invaluable to have a community of parents with whom I can talk about the things we are going through (potty training, schools, etc.). We sincerely love it and are so happy to be a part of this little family. I would strongly encourage parents in the area to check them out!

I am interested, but don't want summer months. It looks like from your website that you have to pay anyway until August. Is there any flexibility there?

not a good experience on our side. 1. the environment is not stimulating for the kids; 2. even if they claim that they are a cooperative playgroup, they are clearly in this for the money. We didn't register our son for a second year.

My daughter has benefited in a huge way from lemon tree, and has grown a lot, even as an older child (started at 2, turned 3 during her time at the group). She really enjoyed the activities--dance, yoga, music, and we felt it was a good value for the money. We just wrapped up our time, and will miss everyone. While I respect that folks have different experiences, such as pp, I really don't think this is about making money. The founders have spent a lot of time and energy creating this special group, and it shows.

Do you have to stay with your kid the entire time? Does anyone know of any co-opt daycare or mother's day out services in the area to give a sahm a break a few hours a week?

Is this place still open? I can’t find any info online

Sadly, it never opened again after the pandemic.
