ECNL moving to school year not calendar

Today’s the day!

An 8/1 cutoff would be more representative of the earliest school cutoffs in the U.S.
If the cutoff was 8/1, there would be potential for anyone who would like to play up to do so.
If the cutoff was 9/1, any states whose school cutoff is 8/1 will have kids trapped in 8th grade and their senior year of high school. That would mean any of those kids born 8/1-8/31 would be in 8th grade while all their teammates are playing high school. They will likely not have a team to play on during that time and it’s really awful during recruitment time.

It will be 8/1. There’s no way they would leave trapped players in the system. The biggest question is…where is the information leak coming from?

Past meetings have been 1 to 6 hours long based on the old agendas. I wonder if this one will be on the shorter or longer side

It will be 8/15 with a 2 week +/- allowance for kids to play with their grade at the club’s discretion. Beyond that they’d need a waiver to play down a grade.

No it won’t.

I think this is right. They will vote/discuss today but there will be no official announcement.

It is not clear exactly what they are voting on but guessing they are voting to repeal CY listed in previous PDI and getting detailed discussion to leagues. So maybe repeal gets announced but no details on exact school year dates. So debate on details gets to continue for another month.

Certainly the results will leak soon. Obviously not an official announcement but I can’t imagine it won’t get out. This is too huge

I disagree. They’ll choose the cutoff today during the vote. There’s no reason for them to waste the time and resources arranging a second meeting just to pick a date. I’d bet the date is already decided going in to the meeting

They still haven’t posted the meeting agenda…

For the first time this year, our 2012 and 2011 ECNL and ECRL teams have had 2/3 practices together this week. Drills and 3v3 scrimmages rotating through all teams. All coaches were present. First time ever. Coincidence?

Soccer is fun for kids! There, we’re back on track and on our way to 300 pages.
