Don't Upgrade to IOS 8.0.1

Don't upgrade to IOS 8.0.1. It disconnects your cell service and disables touch id. This may be limited to iPhone 6 and 6 pluses, but I wouldn't take the chance.

It did not do either of those things to my 5s. Safari started crashing, but I did a search and found a suggestion that I double-click, close safari and go to settings/safari and delete all cookies. That fixed it. No other problems.

Same here. And the autocorrect for texting is amazing! It actually guesses what word I'm going to use next (not the one I'm typing, the one after that) both when I'm typing and in response to what the other person sent me.

I actually closed that function. It is too much like android. What they should "borrow" from android though, is the swipe text function

I got a third party keyboard app with swipe texting that works with iOS 8 -- love it.

Not to worry about me updating to IOS 8. My phone is still on the same OS as when I bought it 4s b/c I like the calendar. However, I just updated my laptop to Maverick and apparently I have two iPhoto libraries. I chose the latest one when I updated the software, but I have no idea which is which and I have a ton of photos.

I definitely didn't imagine that I didn't have cell service until I restored my phone to 8.0. It looks like it only hit iPhone 6 and 6 Plus phones. The dangers of being an early adopter.

Does it kill data /texting too? I am trying to get in touch with someone who has the new 6 and he's not answering. Want to know if I should be pissed or if it's his phone.

Wifi still works so iMessages would work if he was connected by wifi. But, if it is a normal text -- not an iMessage -- you are out of luck if he upgraded.
