Football vs Lacrosse

Anonymous
I don't know anything about lacrosse. My son is 10 & aging out of flag-football and will not be playing tackle football. Is lacrosse a safer option? I looked up some info on concussion rates, lacrosse seems to be better than football but not really sure if that is really good news or not. I know any sport has risks. Thanks.

My so plays both (tackle football and lacrosse) and more of his lacrosse teammates/opponents have gotten concussions over the years but more of his football teammates/opponets have suffered broken bones or major injuries. He is in 8th now and this has held true since he was in 3rd grade or so.

Oh, and I forgot to note, same holds true for soccer - more concussions, fewer broken bones. Basketball seem to be (in my experience with my super athletic kids) the sport with the fewest concussions and broken bones but its hard on the knees and joints. Same goes for track & field.
