Shoes to wear with bootcut jeans?

Can anyone recommend flat shoes to wear with bootcut jeans? When I wear flats or tennis shoes with bootcuts I have flashbacks to 1970s bell-bottoms, and not in a good way. I don't know if the hem length is off or if it's just not possible to combine flats and bootcuts. If it matters, I am on the small side, 5'2" and about 115 lbs.

IMO bootcut jeans look best with a least a slight heel. In addition to boots and booties (obviously!) you could try a small wedge heel or clogs or mules. If it's a really small bootcut (nearly straight, not flared) you could try ballet flats and such. But really, bootcuts look great with boots!

Even a slight heel will help. Otherwise, try for a shoe with a chunkier sole. Something delicate like a ballet flat just isn't proportional.
