HELP - I have a 3-year old and know nothing about shools in dc/md/va

Where do I start? Is there a compilation by any moms on the site? I have not narrowed down anything!! I would consider charter schools, a great public dc school (if they exist) or would move to suburbs for good public schools. Oh - and I'd consider a low-key, good private school too. Help please!!

there are lots of good schools in the area. Give us some other criteria and I'm sure the women on the board can point you in the right direction

Where do you work? How much of a commute do you want? How much are you willing to spend on housing (will you rent or buy)? What type of school are you interested in (as in...will you only accept "OMG - this is THE BEST school and I couldn't send my child anywhere else" or are you the type of person that says "Hey - this is a good school. My kid can get a good education here even if it's not in the most prestigious cluster!) Can you afford/willing to pay for private school?
