I love ankle boots. I love sandals. I don't quite understand their mashup into a peep toe bootie and it's making me feel like I have fashion aphasia.
What are the circumstances under which you'd want the warmth of a bootie but the airiness of a sandal? Are you not simultaneously hot and cold when wearing them? Plz explain, and thanks! |
| They are not practical enough for me. I would never wear them in the winter months or the summer months, so a few weeks out of the year is not enough to justify spending the money. I think if I lived in a warmer climate, I might join the bandwagon. I do think they are super sexy. |
| Most things that look good are not practical. |
Yeah, but we're not talking about things that look good. We're talking about open-toed booties. |
| I don't get them either. |
| I look forward to wearing boots so that I don't have to worry about my nail polish being perfect. Open-toe boots defeat that purpose. |

There are some styles that don't really make sense based on geography. I've noticed some trends look good and are somewhat practical for areas like California where it can be nice during the day and just cooler at night. Whereas here, generally, if it's nice during the day (hot), it's nice at night (less hot, not cool) like our summers or just cold during the day and colder at night, like our winters. Spring and Fall in this area are too short to invest into too many of those trendy pieces because they are hit or miss with the weather.
I think the open toe bootie is an example of this. It would look nice and wouldn't be unpractical in a Southern California winter or may even for some of the southern states. |

I had this awesome pair of Vince Camuto sandals that were basically open toe booties that I wore all summer. Beautiful caramel brown color, went with everything. I found them to be more stylish and fun than pumps, but tailored enough that I could wear them to work.
Seems like they'd be hard to wear in cooler weather; I leave that to the true fashionistas. |
They probably just don't go with your yoga pants. |
| I can only think Kardashian when I see them. |
Open-toe booties are fugly. Deal with it. |
| Not cute. Not cute at all. |
| Thought that earlier today! I think the same person is mentioning them in multiple threads. |
| Love them, but there is a limited time window when they can be worn in this area. This is a great time of year to wear them, though! I like the look of them esp when paired with skinnies. I do agree with 17:59's point though! |
Now, let's not talk crazy. Everything goes with yoga pants. |
