Almost 36 weeks with PMS-like cramps but not BH

Anonymous
I have an appointment for my 36 week internal exam next week. I am feeling fine overall but have noticed some PMS-like cramps lately- not braxton hicks (no tightening and release), just general continuous, low-grade crampiness. No sharp pain, just that same feeling that your period is going to come at any time. Anyone else experience these near the end of their pregnancy? With first baby, I never had BH, I just went into labor one evening (labor began with cramps). I'm not worried, I'm just looking for anecdotal confirmation that my uterus may be preparing for the big event and are manifesting as cramps (yes, I know that no one can predict when I will actually go into labor).
TIA!

Yep, had them randomly for about two weeks before going into labor. Like you, OP, felt fine otherwise and the cramping was just enough for me to notice, but really didn't bother me. At my 37 week appt. the doc. said I was already 2 cm dilated (go figure).

Good luck.

I am 35 weeks and having the same thing...doc says it is normal, more common with second pregnancy than first. He also told me to try lying down and drinking lots of water if they get to be very painful, which mine are at time. I didn't have this with the first either, just woke up one night in labor. GOod luck!!

I never felt BH or early labor -- just those PMS, period-like cramps. Then my water broke 2 days before my due date, and the real contractions started big-time.
