Circumstances caused me to remember one of my favorite statues, which is not in DC but in Boston on Commonwealth Ave. It's of a man, sitting on a "precipice" dangling his feet, looking out at the view very intently, and holding binoculars. On the bottom is says something like
Dream Dreams Then write them Aye, but live them first. (Just found it, and it's Samuel Eliot Morison. He was in the Navy so he's probably supposed to be looking out to sea, but I always imagined him hiking and being a naturalist and looking at some amazing view) Ok how about you? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Morison-statue.jpg |
I love the Einstein statue downtown. It's friendly and peaceful there. |

Michaelangelo's David. |
I second the Einstein Statue. And I love the NOAA seagulls. And there's these horses in Dallas running through a fountain that I like. |
The statue of Jim Henson having a personal conversation with Kermit at UMD. It's so sweet. Students put scarves around them in winter. |
+1. How sweet! |
The body parts fountain in north old town alexandria... it's a deconstructed face (ears, nose, lips) that spout water. And there's a mini-washington monument nearby too. |
