Wish that had applied to me. First generation to go to college and now part of 1% and supporting two sets of parents.

The single biggest predictor of poverty is being born to a single parent household. Check out the historical facts. The destruction of the AA family coincided with the boom of social services. Prior to then, there were more enact AA families than Caucasian families.

Your timeline is wrong. The Moynihan report, which highlighted the troubling trend in single parent black families, predates the great society programs.

You do know that welfare predated the Great Society?
